According to the calendar it is the first week of January 2010.

It used to be the last week of October. This is a mid-term week this year but doesn't explain why it was moved by a couple a months.

Thats terrible ... how can they justify a further delay when the results have been published since June ...

    Does it matter really?

It's only a piece of paper. And you probably already know the names of most of your graduating class.

it doesnt matter really, but it is another example of shoddy admin procedures that are standing in the way of WIT becoming a real university ... (imho)

You are going to have to explain how the date of graduation affects the potential status of the college. I can't see the date being anything to do with admin. More likely it's to minimise disruption to classes who only get 48 contact hours per semster!

UCD Graduation day - June 2009
    UL Graduation - July 2009
    TCD - August 2009
    NUI Maynooth - September 2009

    WIT - January 2010

Like I said - it is just ONE of the underlying hints that WRTC is still alive and well ...

I have to say there is positives to the graduation in January for one there will be more parking spaces in collage street in January because students will be still on their holidays. Another aspect is for students whom will be progressing on to further courses in wit can enjopy the day more beacuse they are not worry about CA or exams etc.

Like someone mentioned earlier...does it matter?
It is the prerogative of every school to determine when they want hold graduation ceremonies.

It's a bit annoying for 2009's graduating students to have to wait for it, we'll be 8/9(ish) months out of college at that stage. .....I wonder will it be a permanent move, or will 2010's class graduate in Oct?....

Also, graduates can't sign on for the dole until six months after graduation. It was put back due to budget restraints, 2010 being a new financial year for the college, allows them new funds to squander :)

thanks for the posts, a letter from the college would've been great to let us know! but anyways, i heard its to do with the disruption it causes to good shepard students. it'll feel like so long ago since we finished though!
