Laptop charger trips electricity

I bought an acer laptop about a year ago and at home it has charged for me without any problems.

However, recently I tried to charge it at a relative's house and it tripped the electricity. This happened twice. They have their own laptops which don't cause any trouble.

This doesn't bother me at home as it doesn't seem to affect the electricity here. But does anyone know what might be causing this? I'm guessing the pc shop wouldn't entertain my complaints 1 year on.

They might've had a rake of stuff running off the same socket, and your laptop pushed the circuit-breaker over the current limit.

If it's not tripping your own flip-switch, I wouldn't worry about it too much. Has it got an Irish plug on the end of it, with its own fuse ?

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, just an ordinary Irish plug as supplied in the shop. As you say, it's probably something at their end rather than mine.
