Hello everyone! Hopefully this is the correct place to put this.

I'm currrently working in a summer job. I handed in my P45 from my previous employer 7 weeks ago but I am still getting emergency taxed. Should this be happening? I just want to get this sorted out because I'm getting taxed up to 170 euro every week. It's a pain in the behind.

Ring your local Revenue Office and get it sorted out. Its not up to your current employer to solve this one for you.

In fairness, if the payroll person is doing their job correctly the OP should not be paying any emergency tax.

OP, ring the payroll department and ask them what's going on.

Yh but may as well ring revenue first to see if the new job has been added and the old job ceased. If not revenue will add the new job over the phone and then add the pay and tax details for the old job as soon as the p45 comes. Also in some office the p45's take longer to process as they are not scanned onto a computer but done by hand.

When you finish up you will be able to get the tax back.It will come in a nice lump sum so will be handy if you are heading to college.
