3rd Year Commerce

    hey has anyone completed the nuig bcomm degree?im about to go into 3rd comm and i just wana be prepared cos iv a feelin its gona be a tough year(just bout kept up with second year) is there many assignments, group work and the like...that nearly crippled me in first sem last year!and just general workload?also any advice on optional subject choices?i think im gona go with acc stream and mayb tak sumthin lik HRm or web design as options....anyway any advice there at all or just general info would be great, thanks

    There are a few other posts about Commerce in this forum, just search.

    I did Commerce, graduating in 1999. 3rd year was tough in comparison to 2nd year. There were way more lecture hours but I dont remember assignments really being much of an issue. But maybe they have added in more since 1999!

    Choose whatever streams you are interested in, think about what kind of career you want after Commerce. If you want to go into the Financial side then yes, choose a major in Accounting etc.

    There was one project that was tough, it was part of the entrepreneur course. You and 3 others had to draw up a business plan for a business idea you come up with. You have to do some research and write up a comprehensive business plan which was damn hard at the time.

    It is important to keep up with the work from the start, espiecially in semester 1 as it is only an 11-12 week term and the exams will come up very quickly. Dont leave it to the last minute.
