I did Gael Force last week and had hoped to do well. 5 hours. My time was over 6 hours and 5 mins. To say i was disappointed would be an understatement.
I wasnt disappointed with my performance on the day it was my preparation that let me down big time.
I had no idea that there would be so many hills in the first run and it was here that killed me. I had trained mostly on the flat and done a little cycling. Nothing like the training i needed to be doing.
Another worrying aspect of the race for me was how low and sad i got throughout the race. I had put too much emphasis on time on the day that when i wasnt reaching my targets i put myself down. Basically i didnt do enough training - not half enough and i am here now to rectify this.
I loved the race idea etc and i want to do more but i need to have the right training done.

From now on i am going to keep a log of all training etc and hopefully next time i be more prepared.

Flu all week so not happy.
Went to Slieve Bloom Mountains yesterday. This where i should have been the months leading to Gael Force. I have mapped out a 12k route that i hope to run once a week for next few months.
Its pretty steep but i feel its exactly what i need.

Hope to run a 5mile in gym tonight.

After been a tough week but just over the flu thank God.

    Went gym today:
    1 Mile Warmup
    Plenty Stretching
    10Min Mile/10 Mins 12min Mile Gradient 2/10 Mins 15min Mile Gradient 4

Wanted to test the gradient on the treadmill, found it tough enough but this is what i have to be training at to have any hope in the hills and mountains.

Swim after overall tired but hapopy enough.

    Total Miles = 13.5
    Total Time = 2hrs 19mins
