I hope this is ok in Security, maybe consumer affairs or electrical might be a little more appropriate.

Usual story i guess, we've had one break in and another attempted break in, got onto the landlord and told him we wnt a monitored alarm system, he said ok, he'd go off and check it out, but he's a bit forgetful lets just say.

So in the mean while i'm checking it out, essentially i have an idea of where and whats need sensor's etc, but im more curious of the monitoring side, and who people would recommend.

Hi, you can find installers here: http://www.mytown.ie/ .

Motion Sensors: these detect movement, usually installed inside
Shock Sensors: these detect tapping on the window, so if the burglar takes the window pane out, the alarm goes off!

Thats just a breef description of whats in the system, I recommend that you get a outdoor siren, make sure you tell the installer this.

    Thanks for that Tim,

Already had a fair idea of the bits we'd need we have some old sensors around the doors and windows as is.

I'm just looking for people experience with installer's would you recommend one if so who and why ?

Ring a few local alarm companies and get them to come around and do a survey. You'll get a quote and spec off each one then take it from there
