    Hi everyone,
Can someone please tell me how long it takes to get a bus from the city centre, say o'connell st, to walkinstown. According to dublin bus website it says about an hour? Is this really accurate?:)

Depends on the route, exact destination and time of day. But roughly between 20 mins to 1 hour.

Thanks for info. I have potential job opportunity with a company in Walkinstown, but do not know exact location yet as its word of mouth via a friend. Was gathering as much info as possible before phoning them up and taking it any further as I have college in the evenings on the north side (which is where i live) and didnt want to waste the guys time if the journey time would cut into my college. I would be travelling in rush hour traffic so am guessing that one hour would be the shortest travel time. :)

it does really depend on time of day. it's bus lane for the majority of the way. i've done it in 15 mins before but i'd say average during rush hour is about 40 - 50 mins. 77, 77a, 56a are probably the most direct buses to get (i can't think of the new one that goes to park west, that's pretty straight too)

Buses from College Street or College Green (originating at Ringsend Road):

50, 77, 77A all take you to Walkinstown Roundabout and along Greenhills Road
56A takes you to Walkinstown Roundabout and onto Ballymount Industrial Estate

Buses from O'Connell Street and Dame Street:
19A takes you to Walkinstown Roundabout
123 takes you to Superquinn in Walkinstown

The most direct routes are the 50, 77 and 77A which should take 30-45 minutes depending on the time of day as indeed should the 19A to Walkinstown Roundabout.

The 151 will also take you to the Long Mile Road if that suits and this goes from Burgh Quay (originating in the North Docklands), College Street and College Green.

    Thanks KC61.
That's the kind of info I was looking for; much more straight forward than the dublin bus website. You're a star.:)
