just would like to ask what's our rights on this matter please bear with me as this would be a long story

we ordered a suite in harvey norman last may 21 in waterford branch. there's only 1 stock left and was on limerick branch but were able to reserve it for us and promised to be delivered in two weeks time. two weeks passed and no sign of sofa. the salesman rang us and said that the limerick store accidentally sold it to someone else and was delivered already. we went back in the shop and look for another for the same price range and found another one and we negotiate for the price to be knocked down for an extra E100 and was promised to be delivered in 3 weeks time which was delayed for another week and finally the sofa arrived but the leather has scuff marks on every side so we rang the store and said they replace it. another 2 weeks passed and the replacement arrived but its even worse than the first one. so i rang the manager and said that he'll check the warehouse if he could find an undamaged one as it seems thy have problem with supplier or we'll negotiate with price or just have it re-upholstered. after few days we rang them and they said they found one without any mark on it. and would be delivered soon. we waited another two weeks and the salesman rang us and said the sofa is in the shop already but when they checked it its damaged again (they're lying to us then when they said that they've found an undamaged one). there telling us that we'll never get a perfect sofa and that they won't negotiate with the price anymore and just would re-upholster it or just look at some sofa in the shop again but might be an inferior quality than what we got. we tried to look in reids but the problem is the delivery would take in 14 weeks and we're scared that we won't have a sofa in christmas time. we went to harvey because of the interest free scheme as we're doing the house.

now we don't know what to do and what's our stand its almost september now and this been going on since may. we won't agree with re-upholtering as they said that the quality would be different and might be inferior to what we got and we're not sure if we could find another sofa there as at the moment we're really annoyed as we are left on awful situation and they just don't care at all. they're telling us now that they didn't offer a price negotiation and basically they want us to pay the whole amount for a damaged suite. do we have the right to insist for a discount?

please enlighten us on this matter

    regards

Get a refund and then go to Michael Murphy's in New Ross - you'll get great service, better quality and a decent price.

In nearly every case a local long standing furniture stores will beat the likes of over priced Harvey Normans & Reids hands down.

Micheal Murphy's have a superb name for quality & value.

If I were you I'd insist that any agreement was cancelled and any deposit paid refunded. Take your business elsewhere to someone who actually gives a crap about their customer and doesn't try to hold them to ransom. They've already failed to provide a like-for-like replacement and they admit that a repair won't work. Unless you want to bend over backward for them it leaves a refund as the only viable option.

Get your money back immediately, get them to pick up there damaged furniture immediately.

Go somewhere else, maybe someone local.
