I(We) am moving to Donegal in the new year in order to enjoy the goodlife. One of the benefits that it will bring is that now I (we) will have the space to build a garage for my classic....hopefully classics. What would you recommend in terms of size and spec of what I should build now that I can. I wouldn't like something too big however I would like space for at least two classics and an old bike or two. Should I build in an inspection pit etc? Is there any thing else I should think of.

Roof height, in case you want a 4 post lift to store one car above another. Also a decent sized door so that you can move one car out without moving others.

A decent floor to fix a lift to.

A lift is better than a pit I reckon

    The voice of experience :o

Also, a strategy to combat condensation and to keep the cars rust free.

My garage has a black roof - its thermal cycles encourage condensation - there's a lot to consider....

It'll never, ever, be big enough - build it to hold the number of cars that you can reasonably maintain and drive plus one more. That figure is four cars for me (excluding the daily driver)

    Where abouts in Donegal ??
Most of Donegal is on rock , digging a pit could be a major job , apart from that we call pits around here swimming pools
What ever size shed you biuld will never be big enough that why I have two now
