Basic SKY+ Query

    Hi there,
i know this question has probably been asked many times. maybe you could point me to a thread if one exists.

Don't have a phone line so don't think sky multi-room is available for me

I have sky+ going into the Living Room. The cables running from the satellite outside.
I just want another connection going from the satellite to the bedroom.
Obviously i'd like to watch different stations on each box.

Is it best to just throw one of the sky engineers a few quid to set this up for me or do this myself.
What do i need if i wanted to do this myself?

You will need to upgrade the dish to a dual LNB and run another cable and even when you do you will only get FTA channels on the second box because you need a multiroom subscription there is no other way.

Have a look at your lnb first before you go out and buy a new one, because you already have SKY+ the engineer should have also installed a Quad lnb.
But like partyatmygaff said, without a multiroom sub, you will only be able to get the free-to-air channels. List of available channels here: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055520627

the LNB is the reciever on the dish (your cables are plugged into it)

on a quad LNB there are 4 connections (as you have 1 sky+ connection, 2 connections should be in use at present) if there are 2 spare connections you dont need a new LNB

if you only have 2 (unlikely) you do

you would need to get a second skybox and run a cable (2 cables if its a sky+ box) from it to the dish
