The paint is the only noticable difference, the 4 cylinders were practically the same tractor. The only differences started with the 3 cylinder 35 and then the 35X. The 4 cylinders were a disaster to start, and more than likely have a single clutch and no live drive.

Disagree lad, the tinwork was the only difference in the beginning. They were always modified as they went along the same as most Fergusons, even the 135 was almost a completely new tractor from start of production to finish. All the 4 cylinders had the Standard 23C engine, the grey ones were up to serial no. 74655 and the red ones were after that. Just painted them a different colour coming off the production line one night and away they went

Disagree again lad, i know all about the 135s the first one was a 35x with a 135 bonnett and went through various changes in air filter oil filter setup mudguard changes, different lift tops different pedals etc etc......Now the gold grey 35s had 6 studs at the end of the trumpet housing while the red ones had 12. The lift top bottom plate is about 3mm thicker on the red ones than the grey ones. Many of the later red ones did not have the button bonnet, there most certainly are other differences too, an old boy pointed them out to me with both tractors sittin side by side one day but ive forgotten them. I can agree with u on the 23c diesel thats true surely.
