Hello, what do I need to get my Irish Laptop charged up in the US, is there a converter or something I can buy here before travelling? Thanks.

All you need is a travel adapter that will allow you to plug your Irish 3-pin plug into an American wall socket. The power supply on the charger will take care of the power conversion.

Sorry for correcting you, but it is always good to check that the power adaptor will accept ~110v current. It is pretty much a standard these days that it will but it doesn't hurt to check.

it will tell you on the chargerr you ahave - the sticker full of fine print. you should see "INPUT: 110-230V" - it has to accept 110 to work in the US

Yeah, as said above just check the powerbrick you have and hopefully the sticker should say that the range is from 110 to 240 or whatever. I live in Ecuador, south america right now(all this side of the world has the same voltage 110) and I have my dell laptop from Ireland plugged into the wall. I just need the adapter that has the same pins as the U.S. I don't need any voltage convertor or transformer thing. And yeah, prob cheaper to buy this thing somewhere other than the airport before you fly, and just get the basic u.s. adapter. Don't bother with the multi multi multi all aroud the world things unless you are going around the world. Enjoy your trip.
