    Hi,

My passport has been burned. Long story. But there is not much left.

Is it easy to get a replacement?

I live in Munster. Do I have to use the Cork Passport Office? I'll be going to Dublin soon anyway so I'd prefer to get it done there? Am I right in thinking that the application is processed straight away if you go to the Passport Office yourself (rather than posting it in) and you can leave with the passport?

    Cheers.

You need proof you are travelling in the next 24 hours in order to get a passport that day along with the extra money you have to pay them.

If you are not travelling soon then complete the standard application form and in section 5 you need to write down your passport number if you can see it and sumbit the actual passport for cancellation.

They will snip the corners and stamp it cancelled and return it with the new one.

It shouldnt be too much of an issue. I think they will appreciate the fact you have some form of passport. The issue for them is that you could be looking for a spare so you could sell the other.

You will have to go to the Garda station anyway so they will have probably seen it all anyway. ;)

I was just doing some research and apparently they don't issue replacements any more. I need to just apply for a new one, but I can't find out how I'm supposed post them the "ashes":)
