Encountered it twice today for first time. What a steep hill especially when you start climbing in the big ring not expecting it to be too long!

Does anyone know how steep it is(%) particularly from Chapo side. Thanks.

Use MapMyRide to find this out for yourself, I would do it for you but I have no idea where this is! Sorry

I do it every Friday on my way home....kind of like penance or something :)
I then go down the strawberry beds and back up Captains Hill....it's pretty steep too.

Tis a great hill for ploughing up and finding out what your real max heart rate is!

I always wondered this and never used mapmyride too much before. I got a 20% out of mapping it - using the road into the park as a guide for when the hill is finished.

The hill is barely 0.5km long. Its steepest stretch is probably over maybe 20m or so. The only difficulty that I would have is as car traffic whizzes by on the very narrow stretch under the footbridge.

I reckon its more 20% than 14% myself

Sure I'll climb it and let you know - just not today...

i wouldn't bother climbing it Caro...though i'm sure you have before... as ROK_ON says its more painfull from the traffic than the actual climb(wouldn't like the idea of having to stop on the steepest bit with traffic...)
