    Anybody done it?

I need to fit 2 cars in, but don't want a monstrosity at the side of the house.

    any ideas are welcome.

Except the shipping container one, which was not well recieved here in the homestead.

Please don't tell me to search, i have and can't find anything.

    Thanks

    Mick

i would think timber would be better than corrugated iron....it should "breathe" and not drip all over your car.

how about a simple car port? keep off the rain and let the air flow through plus nice and light for wotrking on the cars.

this is the one at my old house....can be built quite cheaply this one had sides (which could have been deeper in all honesty) and the plan was to brick around it eventually when noone was looking

have to confess i had it built professionallly and so good a job was it that I got them to do one at my new home...cost a good bit though and I reckon you could do a DIY job fairly easily with basic skills for a small amount..if you can source the materails.

    Very nice.

If you don't mind, Corky, can you PM me roughly how much something like that would cost?

i built my shead from timber (20' by 30')and stables 30' by 12'.i think it cost about 7 k all in but that was with ceder shingles on the roof so it could be done cheaper

Just got a quote for 2k for 12 foot by 20, metal roof.

    Doesn't seem half bad actually.

make sure that metal roof is coated...otherwise it will drip condensation

we just built a 10 by 10 for 600 so id say you could do better or is the 2k including a concrete base aswell?

where in the country are you located?

Buddy of mine got a 6m X 3m shed in Argos or the like for €900. Had to put down the concrete floor himself first but it does the job quite well!

I've seen that Argos shed, yes. Its a bit on the ugly side, but it looked ok, albeit a bit flimsy. Was it ok quality?

I'm in Cavan, and have a broken wrist, so building things is not really on the agenda for me!

    :D

The one I was in was appalling. Very flimsy, particularly the doors.

See this is why this board is so valuable.

I can delete that from my bookmarks now. No point in half doing it eh?

I have one of those Argo's shed's - yep, flimsy. Good enough for a lawnmower, but that's it. Doors not up to much.

Shanette sheds to good car-sized ones, as to Oran Precast in Galway. But you're looking at 6k money.

Condensation and lack of airflow is your enemy - in this respect a carport is actually very good.

You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

My dad's been talking me into building a proper garage, and have done with it. Pricey though.

the carport's looking better all the time to me.

How is it for keeping the weather off? The rain is almost horizontal here in Cavan.
