I passed my test last week and I'm buying a car tomorrow, just wondering whether I'm full licence or provisional licence for the purposes of buying insurance?

I'm sending away for my full licence tomorrow, so it's just the week inbetween sending off for it and getting it in the post I'm wondering about

Don't forget that until you have your licence, you have to leave your L-plates up and be accompanied. This is rarely, if ever, enforced, but still technically true. Most people come out of the test center and straight away rip up the plates.

I remember when I did my test I asked the tester and he said at the time I could take down the L-plates, and that the cert of competency was sufficient if stopped, but couldn't drive on motorways until I got the license itself.

When I passed my bike test a few years ago, I went into the old Norwich Union office in town and showed my certificate of competence. The lassy photocopied it and organised me a refund of premium as I had passed my test.

    Happy days !

    Try it with your insurer.
