Coincidence or monitoring?

In the past 30 minutes i have gone to an supplementfactory.ie (Irish protein site), Aer Lingus website and Komplett.ie (a computer site).

And within a few minutes of leaving each of those sites i have received emails from fitness Ireland (different protein site), Ryanair and Elara.ie (a different computer site) respectively with offers on what i had been looking up.

I'm not a big paranoid head but just found it weird that a competitor has emailed me with offers about the same things i was looking up on the above sites.

Anyone come across an weird coincidences through emails lately?

I took a large dump in Castleknock (Myos) recently and had an e-mail from Kittensoft waiting for me when I got home.

    Felt a bit uneasy................

Every time you visit a site, that site attempts to put a "cookie" file on your pc hidden somewhere.
This file that consistantly collects info on that sites your looking at, is updated by the second or with every click, etc.
Its then sent back repeatedly over time, to the relevant site it originally came from and then they are able to spam you with stuff that they know (via the cookie info) that you might be interested in.

Try "webroot window washer" for example or a free alternatives at www.download.com

    ...and run it regular.
In fact one or twice a week if possible at least.
Or if it don't annoy you, every time you either start up the pc or shut it down.

God, you make it sound so serious!!! Its the easiest virus to detect and remove. Just find the system32 folder and delete.

Definite coincidence. How would they link the IP with your email addy and if they had your addy you are probably on a mailing list so why would they care if you visited their sites. It would not be a cost effective way of running a lefit business that people are already aware of.

Sounds like someone needs to stop using Internet Explorer and use a different proper browser.
