Immobiliser driving me mad!!

Ok, so I drive a 99 TDI A4, and what started out as an intermitent problem with the immobiliser has turned permanent.

It has the Meta system alarm and immobiliser. Immobiliser on the sqaure key fob, that you just place in the ignition barrell when the immobiliser warning light flashes. Then the car usually starts up grand.

But the last two days it starts up and cuts out in seconds with the immobiliser light keeps flashing. Its doing my head in. Ive left it over night and disconnected the battery and reconnected it but still nothing.

Anybody know how to bypass these as Im a redundant apprentice and cant stretch my funds too much.

    cheers

I had as similar problem with my MKIV Golf.I was told by a car electronics guru to do the following and it worked (Don't laugh). Insert the key into the ignition and turn on and off the ignition only 10 times. Then try to start the engine. It worked for me.It's worth a try anyway. You've nothing to loose anyway!

That a known problem with the A4. Something to do with a loose connection to the coil around the ignition barrel.
