Turbo seems to have just gone on the mother's 02 Grand Vitara, 2L deisel.

Not entirly sure what the story is as have only been talking to her briefly but it seems to be whistling a lot. Dealer says carbon build up the cause and that something else may also be wrong, fuel pump and a few other bits were replaced only about 4-5 months ago.

Suzuki dealer reckon about €1800 to replace it, doesn't think she has that kind of money at the moment. Is it worth trying to find a scrap yard / reconditioned one and get it fitted by an indo?

It might not be that serious, take a look at all the pipes connecting onto the turbo and intercooler, make sure they are all nice and tight.

If one of these was loose it could be causing the whistleing sound.
