Registration Fee - help!

    Hi,

Hoping to get into UCD but have to wait till Rnd 2 offers to know for sure.

Because of this, I can't submit my maintenance grant form until Friday at the earliest - which means god only knows how long it'll be before I even find out if my application is successful.

I know I'll have to register in the very near future if I get a place in Dublin but I simply do not have the registration fee - I just don't have it. I've applied for a loan from the bank but I don't know how long it'll be before I get that.

Is there anything I can do about this?

Sorry if it's a stupid question, I'm just a wee bit stressed.

Try contacting the college and explain your situation. Im sure they will be understanding.

You can submit your grant application now. If/when you get confirmation of a place, send in a course acceptance form (see here).

As long as you pay the student levy, UCD will wait until October 15th for the grant acceptance letter to arrive before insisting that you pay the registration fee yourself.

    Okay.

Louth CoCo told me I had to wait till Friday - I won't have it completed till Friday as I'm waiting on a copy of my birth cert.

    Whats the student levy?

Beginning to think this whole university thing is more hassle than its worth!

It's to pay for the UCD student centre, I think. It's 157.50.

    Hi

I got in contact with my college, the Lyit, and they said I wouldn't have to pay the registration fee as I am a lone parent and I will be entitled to the grant and just to explain this to them on registration day.

    Hope this helps.

Im in the same boat myself, is this only for UCD students or would it be the same in other colleges too like ITB were they could wait a month or so for the grant acceptance letter without you paying the registration fee?

It would depend on the college. What I posted only applies to UCD. Some places might expect you pay in full at registration and refund you if/when the grant comes through.
