    Hey there,
can anyone help me out, I need to know what's the best way to get to DCU from Rathmines I can't quite work out connecting buses or maybe try cycling to the dart. I've been scratching my head for some time trying to work it out.
Any help would be great cheers.

its the 19A you want to get it will bring you right outside DCU,the 19 goes by glasnevin and into finglas,so the 19A

Yep, 19a from Camden Street is the best.

bus into town or walk, go to westmoreland st and get either of the 4's, 11's, 13's or the 19a. You can also get the 16's but leaves you a bit of a walk and the other side of campus.

what part of rathmines are you in and how far are you willing to walk? If you are down near portobello then the 19 is best bet. If you are say at the top of leinster road then the 16 passes down harolds cross road i believe. If you are getting a student bus ticket then it may be the same price to get 2 buses as 1 so you could get the 14, 15 in rathmines village and get the 13 or 19 in town. If you are near the ranelagh side of rathmines you could get the 11 but not sure how close they go to DCU.

Yeah, 16 is probably the best for you, I used to get that from Rathfarnam. If you're close enough, the 19a stop would be better though. I just get two buses now though, couldn't be arsed walking.

Get a student travel card, then start to buy 5 or 30 day student tickets, which use smartcards. Both tickets are for unlimited travel on normal buses each day they are used. Both are non-consecutive, so if you skip a day at college or don't use it at the weekend, then a day is not waisted on the smartcard.

The €75 for 30 days may seem a lot, but it breaks down to just €2.50 per day for unlimited travel.

As for the buses to get another option -- depending on what where exactly you live -- is walking to Ranelagh and getting the any of the 11 buses all the way to DCU. Heading towards the city centre, the 11 turns off the Ranelagh Road at Chelmsford Road (not too far away from the Luas stop) and will bring you to the Ballymun Road entrance of DCU.

I'm pretty sure the number 128 bus comes from rathmines, but it will only leave you at malahide road and you'll have a good 30min walk. But at least its a direct bus through town

Okay, both the 19A (Not 19) and 16/A go through Rathmines, although the 16/A is the best option for you as it comes directly through Rathmines, passed the Rathmines Inn / Cathal Brugha Barracks, over the bridge into Portabello, down to Dame st and on out the Drumcondra Road, leaving you off at Collins Avenue crossroads. From there, its a 4 or 5 minute walk...

However, if your willing to use your legs, you can just walk as far as zaytoon on the top of Camden St, where you can get any of the busses: 19A, 16, 16A. If you are on for walking that far, I suggest you take the 19A, as it will leave you off at the ballymun entrance, hence a lesser chance of being disorientated.
