what options are open to a home-maker wishing to return to education

my wife has been a home maker for almost 10years and now that all 3 of the children are at school she is desperately seeking to get back to education (no point trying to get back to work given current state of the country)

I tried a few private colleges and they either have a limited scope of courses or cost a fortune

can anyone recommend a good distance learning university, my wife is interested in IT or accountancy or stuff like that

    any help appreciated
    thanks

google ACCA the association of certified chartered accountants. Books can be bought and studied at home. It's the cheapest option out there for a highly regarded qualification. Certified accounting technician is also an option. If she wants tutor help there are online courses too or evening/weekend classes in the cities
