How anyone could make a film about Susan Boyle is completely beyond me...

It's like a sick joke - and how insulting for Susan Boyle, or indeed any woman, to have a man play her part in a film.

Also, the idea of a movie about Susan Boyle is crazy - how on earth would they stretch it to an hour and a half? Seems like someone's intent on making money out of her.

Did you think it was an insult for Kate Blanchett to play Bob Dylan?

if not, why the double standard?

Nope, no double standard - I think the idea of Cate Blanchett playing Bob Dylan was equally off the wall. If it was meant to be 'arty' then it was lost on me :D

    Eddie Murphy should do it.

Brenda Fricker would've been a more sensible choice...Robin Williams indded!

To be honest I don't think that's quite comparable.

Cate was supposed to play the sensitive disturbed sole of Dylan, I mean a black kid was playing his "roots" and childhood.

That film was an hommage to Dylan, not a comedy at his expense.

A bit different than riping the piss out of Susan by having her played by a transvestite...

Jack Black is a better choice than Robin Williams

The movie should be directed by Quentin Tarantino.

Who said it will be a comedy at her expense? Don't read more into it than is there.

It's not insulting, it's certainly different, but if a woman can play a man, why not a man playing a woman?

They should get Mary Harney to play her.

....or John Hurt, who played the part of The Elephant Man. He could get away with anything after that.

If they ever make a film about Robin Williams life, they should get Susan Boyle to play him.
