    Hi John

    Help - please!!!

    I have an Onkyo 606 (awesome piece of kit - what it can't do isn't worth doing), recently paired up to a set of Denon speakers I bought 2nd hand - small room so no need for anytrhing big.

    The speakers are models SC-A500SD, C500SD (centre) and a sub DSW500SD. I'm happy with the sound out of the speakers, but the Onkyo requires a powered sub, and the amp doesn't have a power lead. Is the amp (in any way) compatible with the Onkyo? Or do I need a new amp? :confused:

    Thanks for an light shed on this!
    C

    Cali,

    Thanks for the post and you knew as you wrote it that the answer would cost you money...

    The DSW500SD is actually a passive Sub, now you CAN use it by connecting it to the 607 via the speaker outputs to enhance the bass - however the 607 really does work better with an active subwoofer.

    If you wanted one to match with the Denon speakers and you wanted to keep the budget down I would go with the Eltax Symphony Sub at just £99.95 or if you can splash out I would go for the pretty amazing (and really tiny) Mossade Titan at £199.95.

    Keep me posted!

    If you decide to sell the denon speakers let me know ASAP. I need the centre speaker (C500SD) and 1 or 2 SC-A500SD, depending on if you'll only sell them as a pair.

    P.S. I have a spare denon DSW-500SD (now not used due to house move) if your interested in running 2 subs we can work something out.

    @statik4315,

    I appreciate that you're trying to be helpful to Cali_Em as well as trying to sort out your own needs, but this forum is not the place for arranging used buys/sales/swaps etc. If you or Cali_Em want to pursue this issue, please take it to PM or place a For Sale or Wanted ad on Adverts.ie, the Boards sister site for buying and selling stuff.

    Thanks.

    Ritz.
