Hi, I need some advice on removing the rear spoiler from my E36 M3. It's an original part and has a brakelight built in. Any tips?

It will be bolted in from underneath - you'll need a bodyshop to fill the holes if you're planning on going spoilerless.

Any idea on how much that will cost?

I'd imagine it would be around €200 or so - not sure. The filling is easy enough, but you'd need the whole boot lid to be sprayed.

The lads in Ac Cars are looking after my E30 (see the classics forum) and would recommend them if you wanted to giuve them a buzz for a quick quote.

200's a bit rich. I'd be happy enough with a touch up and filler

Well unless you spray the whole boot lid its going to be fairly obvious that you've filled it - especially once the filler has been sanded down to be even on your lid. You'll also have the issue that the paint under the spoiler will be fresh - everything else will be more than likely faded. I can't see any body shop filling it and not spraying the whole lid.

If you're in no way fussy and are using this as a track car or something, just get some isopon from halfords and a rattle can of primer and paint for your car and do it yourself.

    LOL
    it will look cack!
you will have filler spouting out of the holes, and the touch up just wont bond to it properly.

the area needs to be prepped, sanded, painted and laqured etc etc

All of which costs time & money. I would have thought that up to 200blips was okay for what you are asking...

exactly, i would imagine it could be done cheaper as a nixer though.
i woul say i could have it done for 100 euro off my mate.

but its the OP's choice if he wants to spend the money or not.
what is the spoiler like, what is the reason for removing it?
