Running socks

Seems an obvious thing but do you guys have any recommendations here? I'm not really concerned about blisters etc., but the more comfortable the ride the better for me at the moment, running 8 min/mile pace. Have never given it thought and always wore whatever I had floating around the place, which have never been running socks..

Or maybe it doesn't really make a difference? Any thoughts?

Each to their own really. I wear Aldi and Lidl €2.99/pair running socks and have never had a problem with blisters.

+1 on lidl & aldi best.
I had previously spent the money on the 1000-mile socks, but still got blisters.
Bought a few of lidl & aldi ones when they were available to see if they were any better and they were. They are thicker socks, better padding, and for me it has sorted the blisters problem completely. :D

I use balega socks. They're absolutely BRILLIANT.

I don't know where you buy them in Ireland, I bought them from a shop called feet first in Chicago and get people to buy me about six pairs every time they're over there.

That said, i recently bought some lidl walking socks and they were great. However in the past have tried aldi and lidl socks and HATED them.

The only time I ever got blisters was when I used fairly new 1000-mile socks. To be fair though, it was the shoes and not the socks that caused the problem, and subsequent run with the same socks have been fine.

Most of the time I use cheap cotton socks, and I never have a problem with my feet. On "serious" days (long runs or speed workouts) I use more fancy apparel, but to be honest I think my feet would be fine with cotton as well.

Your Mileage May Vary, and in the end you have to find out for yourself what works and what doesn't.

This completely depends on the CURRENT condition of your feet. If your feet are soft then stay away from the Aldi/Lidl crap until you toughen them up. I started marathon training in February and started off using cheap socks like the ones from Lidl/Aldi, my feet were destroyed from blisters and nails failing off.

I then stopped wearing them and switched to Sole Anti-blister socks, since switching my feet have been in great condition, even after running a marathon. They really do work. They cost about €23 for 2 pairs and well worth the investment (in my opinion of course!).

I use 'Twin Skin' anti blister socks and think they are quite good. Was warned off using pure cotton running socks
