Some sad and upsetting news. The management of the Vincent De Paul Pool on the Navan Road in Dublin 7 have confirmed that the swimming pool will permanently close to the public on September 24th next.

As to "why" the pool was closing, they gave a vague reason of "redeveloping" the site. This is a real blow for swimmers in the area, of which I am one.:(

I rang up the pool and they said it was only repairs - although I don't believe them, the staff are being let go so it sounds final enough?

Well as far as as I was told by an owner of one of the swimming clubs that has been there for years they are knocking it down, its really sad to think how many people use and have used that pool and its just going to go?!

Really sad to hear this - I'm ex St Pauls SC and spent many hours in my youth thrashing up and down this pool - happy days. Will the clubs move to Joey's or further afield?

I live in the area and the parish news letter (this missus reads it :p) claimed that it was closed for renovation work. If the parish news letter contains lies then I'll eat my hat.

It's not being knocked down, but there is fairly extensive renovations to be done. It's a complete overhaul which is why they have no idea how long it will take and why the staff were let go. They've started already though so hopefully won't be closed for too long! Can guess which coach told you it was being knocked down though, drama queen.....

Any possibility that they're extending it to 25m?
