Is there not an option to turn predictive text off in the settings?

I think he's talking about the keyboard layout.

Have you tried turning your phone?

Not sure if people are allowed to create their own keyboards in apps so thatd prevent a T9 being created for the iPhone

There isn't such a thing, I'm afraid. Simple reason is that almost no one wants it, not when it has a full qwerty.

Why did you buy it when you knew it had a querty keyboard layout?

Nowhere in the OP's post did it say he had prior knowledge of the iphone having a qwerty layout. Your post is unhelpful, and off topic.

To the OP, no, there's no numeric/predictive text style texting application available for the iPhone. I came from a T9 predictive text background using Nokias since 1996, and I've got to say once you get used to the Qwerty keyboard, it's actually an awful lot faster.

Well, that's me told, thank you for your opinion of my post. I assumed the OP might have done some research before spending the money on the iphone, I was wrong.

Had a look for you, OP.

There seems to be two apps: one is off the app store, the other you've to jailbreak your phone for.

    1. One is T9app, and is available off the app store.

    2. ''iKeyEx'' - more info on it here - is available off Cydia, although I couldn't find the source for you. If you want to jailbreak your phone then I'll dig deeper for you and get it. Hell if you're around Dublin someday I'll even do it for you (safe, I've done it to my ipod and a number of iphones)

as the mod posts, once you start using the Qwerty keyboard, its pretty fast, and also, it has auto correct so when your in the middle of typing out a word the full spelling appears above it and if you hit space it auto fills the word for you and you can continue texting, its really handy, i just need to start getting into the habit of flipping the keyboard around cause my fingers are a tad too big for it with the smaller closer layout, but its not to bad once you get used to it, can type a message out in pretty quick time, just give it a chance and you'll adapt to it fine.

    http://www.iclarified.com/tutorials/iphone/index.php

All the tutorials are listed in that link.

It's so easy to do both jailbreak & unlock I was amazed.

purplear1n seems by far the easiest jailbreak method but has issues with Vista. Should be OK with XP.

I used Redsn0w but hit a snag with the 3.0.1 firmware restore. I ended up using the 3.0 one listed in the tutorial. Phone is now jailbroken, Cydian installed, unlocked and working on Meteor, and showing FW3.0.1.

    Happy days.
