There is an annual LAN event called midlan (I think) but other then that Irish gaming events are thin. However, once the new convention center in town is finished we should be lobbying for something like Cologne!

There is gaelcon. Which will have games tournaments (including street fighter 4). There is more info in the fighting game forums

I was thinking more along the lines of developer's showing upcoming games/ tech. etc rather than gaming events like competitions etc.

Well those huge LAN parties do get some attention here & there (quakecon in the states is basically a LAN party that id shows up to) but Ireland really isn't the market to launch titles etc. Granted, the way Germany is going they might have to move GamesCom, and we'll have our nice new facility for it.

    It doesn't make sense for
    a)small population
    b)tiny amount of game developers

Plus we don't have the stature of more developed countries with regards to electronics and technology like Japan and USA do.

i remember a few years back (release year of GTA San Andreas) there was an exhibition of Playstation games in the RDS. It defiantly wasn't as big as e3 lol

Playstation Experience. I quite enjoyed it (got to try out Killzone a few weeks before release, thank god I missed that bullet :D).
Sony were great about it, even organised buses from the far corners of the country (Tralee).

Yeah that was a tour of Europe (or at least the UK & a leg in Dublin for the sake of it) though rather then a dedicated event.

I had the chance to attend the launch of Killzone in whats now called the Twisted Pepper back then. Good times...
