    hi everyone,

I took an old 60GB IBM deskstar IDE hdd and stuck it in an a Canyon external case. It's NTSF formatted. It shows up in the disk management to format the disk; however, it isn't showing up in as a external hdd in my computer. I've tried setting it to both master and slave.

Does anyone have a idea why this is happening? I checked the drive before removing from my desktop and it came back clean. I then dbanned the hdd before putting into the enclosure. After that I formatted it for NTSF in disk management.

I'm running windows 7 RC, but I've also tried this on my laptop which is running XP pro.

Any help will be much appreciated. Cheers.

Did you assign a drive letter to it in disk management?

Thanks. That worked. I didn't realise that was necessary. Cheers.
