Red button/streams question.

Well, I think this is a red button and/or streams question. Apologies in advance if I've got the terminology all over the place.

I've always assumed that the "multiple channel" channels I tune in (but don't use) are to help people tune alternate views/programs on one of the interactive platforms. I'm talking of the ones that show 4 different programs on a single screen.

I've also always assumed that you are able to tune in each of the streams individually once you know the relevant settings. When I was talking to someone over the weekend they said that they couldn't tune them in and I said "sure, of course they're just another channel you need to tune them correctly". Now, they want me to fix their setup for them . . .

Before I go off and waste loads of time can someone confirm that with an ordinary non-freesat box you can tune in the individual streams and there's no funky stuff going on that would make these broadcasts any different than the other 200+ channels I can tune in ?

    Thanks,

    z

Hi, I can confirm that you can tune then individually, watching them yesterday on my fta box/ i believe there is 7 for bbc, stream 0- stream 6. when there is nothing on the stream it will broadcast a blue screen with a repetitive audio message such as "audio 31" audio 33"

not sure what the freqnuency details are.

    Thanks for the links.

I told my sat box to tune using the settings on the tuning page and it looks to be good.

On 11954 I get two mosaic pages "STRM-0" and "STRM-1" with 6 views on each, although "STRM-1" only has one with actual content and the other 5 are just some repeating red graphic.

So, there are 7 actual views (i.e. showing content) that I can see on the mosaic pages and 7 streams I can tune. Looking good.

The only problem is that the views I see on the mosaic pages (mostly news and weather looking stuff plus what looks like a sketch show on STRM-1) aren't what I see on the actual streams - mostly motor racing and place holders ("audio 3 1").

So, it looks like I'm part of the way there, but something's still wrong as I'm not able to tune in a channel for what I'm seeing on the mosaic page . . . if you know what I mean.

Have you tuned in the 12441, V, 27500 streams?

Yeah, sorry, I meant to say that.

On 11954 I got the two mosaics and on 12441 I got the 7 individual channels.

Unfortunately the 7 channels I get don't match up with the 7 views on the mosaic screen.

I don't think they're supposed to. The 12441 streams are the for additional/once-off features like the qualifying for F1.

The 11954 multiscreens are permanent. Some receivers allow you to zoom in on the individual panels, so that it occupies the full screen.
