any recommendations for good Irish internet dating sites?

    for meeting 30ish professional women?

have used them in the past while living abroad and found it a useful alternative to meeting people in pub / through friends of friends as you can filter by common interests/intelligence and also "cut to the chase", have met some interesting people, obvious disadvantage being some of the women aren't the best looking which you only find out when meeting in person

    anyway any suggestions welcome !

    Try Maybefriends.com or Anotherfriend.com.

    Both good. Trust me.;)

Do both of the above not require subscription.

I'm of the opinion it is not worth paying for this as there are a munber of free sites out there. Although I would be interested to hear more Whosbetter? if you think it is worth it.
    plentyoffish
    smooch
    okcupid
are 3 that come to mind in which you get most features for free, unlike others where even to contact another member u have to subscribe.

you mean you meet up with people without having seen a picture or the pictures were old or photoshopped?

It depends on what you want it for. If you are looking for a friendship/relationship then all of the sites mentioned are the ones to go for.

However, I noticed you mentioned that some encounters were a disappointment because of looks. If it's something more casual you are searching for then I would suggest alternative sites to what was mentioned. :)

Admittedly, my information is a bit out of date, as I finished with them over 5 years ago.

Maybefriends & Anotherfriend seemed to be the only major ones around at that time.

Haven't heard of the ones you listed above.

I met a good many ladies through those sites.

No really bad experiances come to mind.

Do I think it's worth it?

    Most definately!

I think you'd do well on GetOut.ie. They do social events as well - speed dating, adventure days etc. and there are plenty of women in the late 20s to early 30s age group. All normal people - you might find your colleagues or mates on it.

I used match.com before. I paid for a 6 month subscription. I wouldn't recommend it tbh. Although, maybe I didn't use it to full advantage.

One major problem with alot of these pay-sites is that if the person you contact doesn't have a full subscription, they may not be able to reply to you. So, you can't be sure if you've been ignored, or if they just aren't able to reply. I'd say I was being ignored alot though!

On a positive note - there were definitely lots of good lookers on it. 90% of people had pictures of themselves. Got into good conversation with some nice, normal girls. Never met any in the end though. But maybe I'm just not that smooth!

And don't just presume that the women on the dating websites are the ones that couldn't get a date through normal avenues. Lots of them seem like great women. Probably just tired of trying to meet guys in pubs and niteclubs

Of course. Unfortunately there's scumbags on there too

Connecting Singles is another one that I've used and got on well with.
