Crows do fall for decoys. I dont exactly know what you mean by coming into field. I do set up my hide in the ditch and put out the decoys like normally you would. Provide some good shooting but make sure your eye is in cos them boys wear bullet proof vests:):)

I dont really use the patterns although i probably should. Usually just a 'U' shape for pigeons and crows and one here or there. There is a web site wit lots of patterns. Im on the phone so cant post link but wil get it for you soon. Sometimes crows wil circle above the pattern just out of reach of a shot. Its like they know the distance. Iv seen these crow callers you suck. This i think would give the weary ones the confidence to drop in. Havn used one myself but have heard good reports. They sell for cant 25 euro but probably cheaper on the net.

Under E.U. derogation crows can be shot if causing damage.......if may be difficult to prove they were causiing damage coming into a cut silage field....no crop to protect!..........if there were grain fields nearby then you could be justified.

Electronic crow calls are not permitted under the Wildlife Acts.....hand blown ones are okay.

I just use it on its own, it is attached to a ball which has a little motor inside and causes the crow to wiggle about on the ground, I would place it out on an open field where i know crows will be about and hide in a ditch well camoed up and when i see a crow in the distance i put on the caller andit brings them in and they start to go mad hovering over it- then its termination time!!:D:D
