well lads i was thinking about trading in my 2 guns against a nice side by side shotgun.

i have an over and under lumar scirrocco i bought 2 years ago for €800 and i cz.22 which i bought for €300. do you think a dealer will give a good price against them for a trade in for a nice side by side?

I was talking to a gundealer that i know well about business recently.
He was saying that he lost the sale of a few guns due to the would be buyers losing their jobs, he is a also bracing himself for a stream of guns to come onto the market as he fears they wont be licenced by the owners this time around, as the owners wont be prepared to pay 80 euro for a gun thats probably not worth 50, so I guess things have slowed up and this **** heap of a relicencing system isnt helping either..the only thing you could do is go test the water, after all if you dont like the deal then you can always refuse.

I suspect the trade in value will depend on the value of the side by side you intend to buy. You have potentially €1100 worth of kit. If your s/s is only €800 than you won't get the value on your trade in. If, however you are going upmarket and spending €5000 + on a new s/s then you might get the full value of your own guns. it's probably not a great time to be looking to trade in given the economy and the number of guns being handed back to dealers. However, it could also prove to be a good time to buy.

Personally I could never get used to a side by side. I just don't like the feel or the sight picture.

I bought a Beretta 471 Silver hawke SxS this year. Always wanted one,had a SxS 30 Odd years ago could not hit a barn door with it. traded it in and used o/u and semi-autos since. I bought one this year to see if i can hit with it as i always had a wish for one very classy to carry and shoot, but if i cannot hit with it this season ill will be trading down for something else. It is a beautiful gun multi-choke. Got about one inch put on to the stock (professionaly) to make it longer, lovely job. So hopefully it works for me as i am hoping to make this a keeper,if not well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
