I was a flanker who switched to prop (LH), i didnt realise the amount of work i had to do. I assume you have alot more work ahead of you than me.

Get fitter, faster. Learn to run good lines. Learn to run low, lifting your legs in the tackle, trying to break it the tackle that is. Handling is good? Good, but try make it softer, like even better then it is if you understand what I mean. Offloading and deft passes to the scrumhalf are vital. If you're able, see if your coach will let you do 10 minutes with the backs to develop your longer passes.

Hope that helps, and good luck, No.8 is alot of work but fun :)

you will also need to read the game alot more from the scrums... be aware always what the opposing scrum is. As a prop you would not have done this as much... at number 8 its vital to know where the scrum is going to so you can defend it.... You will also be used a lot in controlling the scrum at the back to defend a twisting scrum or even to turn it on offensive scrums to your teams advantage.

Also get fitter and faster is a must.
