Drove through the floods today and my engine management light came on the dashboard. I'm not sure if some of the sensors got wet or if it could turn out to be something more serious. I don't want to take it to a garage as I have just got a new starter motor put in so don't know if that could be the problem.( Its a Peugeot 307 2.0 litre turbo diesel.) . Has anyone got any ideas or come across something like this before? Would appreciate any feedback, thanks.

I'd say You will need to get fault codes read first to see where the mil light
coming from....is it driving normal since you wet thro the flood??
afaik the air intake on the 307's are pretty high up.....:)

Thanks for the prompt reply. Yes no difference to the driving of it . driving the same as normal . just spent a packet on the new starter motor so dont know if the mechanic cleared all the codes from the ecu or if its a new problem cropping up . I'd rather have an idea of what it might be before i drop it into him and he charges me a fortune to tell me something obvious or even charge me for putting it up on the diagnostic machine and then tell me nothings wrong

Is the light still on or was it just for a few minutes?

The engine management light is generally orange and has a simple diagram of an engine. If it was a once-off incident and the fault does not re-occur, the light will go off after a certain number of starts. It will be stored in the ECU memory and can be read by your service-man later.
