Hi all, hoping for some help here.
I custom built my PC exactly two years ago and sadly my graphics card has gone to graphics card heaven.

I currently have an 8800 GTS:

My motherboard is a nForce 650i ultra (Non-SLI)
So that is one pci-e x16 slot.

I have 100 to maybe maybe maybe 150 to spend on a card, I mostly use my PC for gaming and entertainment, my monitor only supports up to 1280x1024.
I've been looking at this http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=439020 which is well reviewed and seems to be the best value for performance I could get.
I am aware however that it is probably last generation (and then some), I'm not sure what to do! I'm hoping for some advice from y'all!

Rest of the PC is a Intel core 2 quad q6600 2.4ghz, 4gb ram running 64-bit Win 7 RC and 32-bit Vista. 600w OCZ Technology psu.

Hello thanks for the reply and suggestion, I stupidly left my psu out!
It is a 600w OCZ Technology powersupply.

Well the 4850 at that ridiculous resolution would play any game going....

Also your psu doesn't have the necessary connectors for the 4870.
However my 4870 came with a molex to pcie power connector, not sure if these work, but saying that don't know why they'd give you it if it didn't work....?

It says in the manual pretty much "don't use the molex to pcie connector we gave you" So i really don't have a clue

A HD4850 is the absolute most you should consider spending on the card for those resolutions.

The HD4830 can also knock out very acceptable framerates for Crysis at that resolution.

+1 on the HD4830, unless the HD4850 is nearly the same price. You can find HD4830s for a shade over €75 on Komplett and Pixmania for starters.

Thanks for the help and advice guys, I had ordered a HD4850 last night
    http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=442785
Was 8 euro or so more expensive than a normal 4850 due to the cooling system!

Sorry for the stupid question: are HD 4770 not available here in Ireland? I'm from Spain and again excuse me for the question.

If so, I would go for it rather than both 4850 and 4830.

Well komplett.ie sells them but they are out of stock right now!

Were pretty much sold out worldwide due to chronc lack of supply proplems caused mainly I believe by not being able to secure manufacture of enough of the new 40 nm GPUs to meet demand for the last 2-3 months.

Google reveals that the supply issue looks to be resolved so hopefully they will be back on the shelves very soon for good, if you want to hold out until then.

Actually is it wrong to find a graphic cards attractive :), because I find that Saphire very easygoing on the eye

    Thanks for your responses.

This is the card: http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=451175 but I think it's a bit expensive. However, still better price than a GTS 250, and if you take into account the power consumption a 4770 becomes a better choice. If you can find it, of course :)

Another vote for either the 4850 or 4870. 4850's can be had very cheap now at the moment. For example:
    http://www.pixmania.ie/ie/uk/3499404/art/sapphire-technology/radeon-hd4850-hdmi-512-mb.html
or if you want to step up:
    http://www.pixmania.ie/ie/uk/2428538/art/pixmania/radeon-hd-4870-512-mb-gdd.html
But for the resolution you mentioned I think the 4850 is your best bet.

It seems to be due back in stock on Tuesday. Maybe worth a post in the Komplett forum here so they could confirm.

Oops I meant to quote the post with linek to the the 4770 in it. 150 for that is very some poor value for money alright.
