Im not sure if this is the best place to be posting this so correct me if it is, i'll move the thread elsewhere.
I plan to rent close to the collage itself in tallaght, im hoping maybe somebody else was thinking the same idea, im looking for easy going people though, good sense of humour, wanna have a laugh all that.

I havn't heard if the collage offers any accomadation so if anyone knows anything feel free to tell me. Any advice on housing in the area would be appreciated also.

If there is anybody looking to rent, leave a reply im intrested to see where people are looking for accomadation in the tallaght area.

This thread really does come across as an add.....my bad.......

There is an apartment block right over from the entrance to the college that is typically rented to ITT students. You could try there.

Otherwise, keep an eye out on the notice boards in college. At the start of the year you normally see a load of adverts for renting on them.

cheers for that, so do you suggest maybe wait till i check them out before renting?! im traveling from clontarf which is ages away from the collage so i dont want to be commuting all day every day.

In my experience, www.daft.ie is the best place to look!

Loads of houses, within every price range, in Tallaght and other surrounding areas.

The apartments next to the college are pricey and badly managed. In my experience, the management took ages to come and fix anything and weren't bothered communicating with you, unless it was regarding you owing them something.

Also, you pay a deposit when you move in, 750 euro - and out of all the people I know who lived there, including myself, no one got it back! They'll screw you for anything and everything - so if you do choose to live there, be very careful.

Rent is expensive, as I said and it's important to note that rent doesn't include electricity charges, which are about an extra 40 euro, per apartment, per month.

In saying that, the apartments are obviously ideally located! If I were you, I'd use them as a last resort - you can get much better value for money and better service elsewhere!

yah ill check that out man, cheers for the update on the apartments btw think ill steer clear from them then. ill check out daft.ie i heard of that site to that should help alot.
I dont wanna be too far from the school either but im sure i can get some good accomadation somewhere close by. Whats the area like in general? tallaghts known too be rough enough i know that, but like anywhere im sure its got it grand parts and bad parts. whats probally the more common places for students renting house's does anyone know?

man there are so many apartments in tallaght its just plain crazy,
You will have no problem with getting one close by the college i wouldnt imagine anyway.
Dont know who might have told you tallaght was a rough place!!
Correct me if im wrong but isnt clontarf on the northern side of the big river? And your worried that tallaght is rough...Ha ha ha, Stop would ya.

Ah no, serousily tallaght only has good parts. its the truth. The only dodgy part of tallaght that you should be worried about is the smoking hut at the ittsu, some right dodgy chappies be hanging around there, it does be smelling right funky, at all hours of the day..

    Have fun

Tallaght is fine man. I can only think of two areas that could be considered bad. It's like everywhere though - good and bad parts, good and bad people.

Are you serious? tallaght is a kip. In january I was attacked on the way to work on the walkway behind the GARDA station at 5:30 in the afternoon and had a big black eye during the exams.

Clontarf wouldn't be too bad for commuting, I'm based in artane going into 2nd year of CDM (AV) and I get the bus and luas, Its under an hour and a half to get there, works out a lot cheaper than renting too!
