Module Choice thingy

So I know I'm being a bit too organised (as usual), but I was wondering about the form I have to give in for choosing what modules I want to do in Science TR071. Apparently on the monday I have to find some advisor person, talk to them about it and then hand it in. It doesnt say where this person is or what time all this is supposed to happen. My course meeting is early, at 10:00, so is it safe to assume this meeting will give me some miraculous clarity, or should I go in at 9ish and look for the advisor around a "science course office desk" thats mentioned in the booklet thing???

I know the information is probably somewhere, or it's a matter of common sense that just completely fails me, but I'm both worried and lazy - a terrible combination.

Ah join the overly organised club:D
I think the meeting's going to give us some clarity over what to do with the form, I'd say we'll be divided up and seen to on a 5-10 minute basis or something like that. Or else it'll be one long 300 person queue!

So out of curiosity what subjects are you taking? I'm going with Biology, Chemistry and Maths myself.

Oh and change the thread title too, there's a lot of scientists around here who'd be happy to help once they notice the thread

Hey, I'm starting this year too and also plan to do biology, chemistry and maths.

I'm not a hundred percent sure but a friend of mine who entered last year said that after the meeting there are two slots, each for a couple hours. One for the A-L surnames, and then the M-Z surnames. The whole thing is done in the hamilton building.

You would be correct. Course meeting in the morning where a lecture from each option gives a quick chat about the subject. It's a little dull tbh, and usually in the MacNeil theatre. I'm not too sure about the intake for the course this year but if it's large be prepared to sit on the stairs if you come late. Straight after the meeting, sirnames A-L head downstairs and queue up to talk to one of the lecturers. This bit takes forever. You'll also be handed 3 forms. One is subject choice which needs to be signed by the lecturer you spoke to, the other two are to do with your health. Hand all relavent forms to the nice people sitting at the desk and then you can be on your way. Sirnames M-Z are to come back in the afternoon.

Damn! Meh I suppose I'll check out the soc's and try meet with my tutor then. Could be worse

Can we rename this thread JF Science 09/10, and leave it for us!?:D

Ill be doing Bio, Maths and Chem myself.

Can anyone explain, in each subject (Bio, Maths, Chem) are there sub modules that you can chose from?

As far as I know there's no internal choice but I'm in JF like yourself so I stand to be corrected, what I've gathered is that this year there's a lot more flexibility with the subject choices with the credits system.

I reckon the mods must love all the JF science threads:pac:

    Coolie cools.

Is anyone else a bit iffy on the fact that we dont have registration till the last day? We cant give our @tcd.ie addresses to the clubs/socs when were joining and wont be able to explore the library and such alone.

I know it sucks doesn't it? I suppose we can always give the @tcd.ie ones to the socs we end up sticking with. Think of it as an effortless spam filter :p

It should be good though despite timetable issues. I'll miss out on a few things since my friends are in different courses and on different days but hey socialising's what college is for I guess.

Anyone given any thought to which clubs and socs they plan on joining?

Ah a fellow yellow belt drop-out like myself:D I'm probably gonna try for sci-fi(I'm a nerd D: ), the hist for the debates, perhaps the film society and maybe even swimming! There's a few I'm still thinking about for the laugh!

Ok I've changed the title of the thread to attract some more science people (because im just so obedient).
I'm pretty sure I'll be joining the sci-fi society, not sure other than that. As for modules, bio, chem and maths methods first semester, then bio, chem and foundation physics second semester... if thats how it works.
I wont know anybody starting this year, all on my lonesome in the big bad world unfortunately... I'm sure most people are in the same boat though
