lost old provisional

    hi there, i had a provisional licence back in 2001 and i drove for maybe a year and then stopped. but i lost that licence and never bothered getting a new copy, now when i got my provisional there was no theory test, and im guessing that it should still be in date. so does anyone know what i have to do to get it because i just got a new car and i want to get sorted :)

    provisional licence only works for 2 years - so its out of date and you will have to start from scratch (theory test etc) - and get a second provisional - and sit your driving test.

    EDIT: You have just gotten a new car - fair play to ya.

    so im guessing i needent bother going to the guards or tax office,i should just apply online for my theory and do it and hopefully pass and then apply for provisional right?

    Yep!!

    And if you want to save yourself some time, go get your passport photos and eye test done now. Thats good for 2 years. Not sure whether or not you need to pay for this though if you already wear lenses of some kind.
