New rifle is arriving in country very shortly, paying the balance on monday and getting it shipped. As such, I'm researching ammo and trying to find out where I'm going to have to go to get it, so speak up if you've seen it around, and if you happen to know a price, that'd be excellent too. Thanks. Looking for:

    Hornady 117gr SST
    Hornady 117gr BTSP
    Federal 117gr Speer HotCor SP
    Federal 117gr Sierra Gameking BTSP
    Federal 100gr Nosler Ballistic Tip
    Federal 115gr Nosler Partition
    Federal 100gr Barnes Triple-Shock X
    Federal 120gr Fusion
    Remington 120gr Core-Lokt
    Winchester 115gr Ballistic Silvertip
    Winchester 120gr Super-X

Open to any recommendations from users of the round as well. The above is just what I've dredged up in a quick search.

if your necking the 100gr federal ballistic tip ,they also work well behind the shoulder of stags.

the federal 117 soft point are a brilliant bullet, also sako 117gr soft points i have shot a lot of deer with them.

SSTs.... i had a problem on a hind one eve on a head shot the bullet did not expand so i stopped using them.

A lad i shoot with uses the 100 grain federal ballistic tips, he swears by them, flat shooting round. not sure how much a box but i reckon around 35-40 a box.

Any idea how much the various rounds cost JW? I know the Federal 117gr softpoint aren't too bad, which is nice, as they seem a tidy bullet.

isn't all centrefire hunting ammunition expensive in this country ? eg. 30-40 euros a box.

Seen plenty for 20-30. Don't mind paying top dollar for stuff for hunting, but for testing groups and getting used to the new rifle, I'll be trying a mix of things, hopefully including somewhat cheaper stuff. Seen the Federal 117gr softpoint for about 25 quid a box, which is quite good. The Hornady stuff is around 35 from what I hear, but that's not too bad either, since it'd be kept just for hunting.

Getting a few more reports now on the Federal Premium stuff, which seems to be about €35 a box, but if anyone's got prices for their local guys, that'd be excellent. Particularly interested in the Nosler Partition and Ballistic Tip and the Sierra Gameking loads, as people are a bit fuzzy around the edges giving prices for them.
