They hit the scoreboard in the game against the titans.

they said during the game that the screen was put at that height cause they're hosting a U2 concert in October, and they're using the screen so they put it lower so the crowd could see it better

If the Titans reserve punter can hit the scoreboard I'm sure that Raiders Pro Bowl punter Shane Lechler should have no problem doing it too, when they visit for the Thankgiving Day game. It could lead to an interesting situation, if the scoreboard isn't raised though, for AFAIK(I've seen this reported) there is no penalty for hitting the scoreboard, the play is just played again with the time not being replaced on the clock, so if you had a slender lead and were forced to punt you could in theory repeatedly hit the scoreboard and run off several seconds each time, thereby running down the clock without having to advance the ball or turn over possession. It could be useful in the last minute of a close game.

    That was the commentators rationalising.

After all they wouldn't normally put a video scoreboard low enough to disrupt punts. Of course they wouldn't!

Titans punter hits video screen ... Jerry Jones defiant

I believe that it has to be raised for the U2 concert.

If it is that low it will block the line of sight of the stage.

The Super Bowl is being hosted there next season. The idea of the 'do over' in professional sports is laughable. This should be taken care of before the season starts, but it is going to cost JJ a cool $2 milllion in order to correct the problem.

The NFL needs to grow a set and make sure that things like this don't happen.

The height it's set at is about three feet above the regulation minimum height of 85ft so technically they have to do shag all with it as it's within limits. On top of that, because the NFL themselves gave the thumbs up to build the thing, they'd have to pay to raise it rather than having dear old JJ dig into his pockets.

There's some other howlers of design flaws too. Check out the worst seat in sports history.

This is what happens when Xzibit pimps out your new stadium.

Apparently its above league regulations, which leads me to believe that a kicker aint hitting the screen unless hes aiming for it, still though, Dallas Oakland on Thanksgiving could be sticky in front of a national audience if Lechler decides to unleash one towards the screen. Doubt the Cowboys or the League want the hassle tbh. Still though they dont want to be seen to be making exceptional rules for individual stadiums

Well you see the problem is Punters have been kicking that high always bit never had a screen pushing the boundries of lowness. No other stadium has a screen even close to being that low.

As for the design flaw and those worst seats talking to a buddy of mine who is a Cowboys season ticket holder 90% of the block that chick sits in that video is not used for fans but for security. But whoever decided to lump seats there needs their head examined idiots.
