the neighbours ducks got hit 2 nights ago,8 dead in their house,2 at the door, more in each corner of the shed

C.S.I Macroom were unavailible to process the scene

last night 3 golden pheasants and a rooster were bumped off

they set a wire cage trap last evening but he didn't go in

there were no visible marks on the dead poultry

are we right in assuming it was mink

how many traps should be set

    what are the best baits?

    any help appreciated

Could be a stoat either. Have used dog food in traps and always did the job.

fresh fish or sardines, anything with a fishy smell .the more traps the better.probaly was mink when they left carcass behind.

Lots of Mink around at the moment, heavy rain has swollen the rivers so much that they cannot find fish to eat.
Consequently they are looking for other things to kill.
I have seen several in the last few days (not a million miles from macroom)and will be keeping my live trap baited for them as well as the kill trap.
I have also seen a stoat yesterday and they are also a killer of poultry.
Mink usually take the throat right out.

is there a certain way to position the traps. i have been setting them along river banks using fish, both fresh and tinned. I have only caught two over the last few months and they are definitely around. i think i may not be setting traps properly
