New Soundcard/Speakers won't play music in 5.1

    Hi,

I bought a creative X-Fi SoundBlaster there yesterday.
And I have a 5.1 configuration setup on my PC.

I've tested the software and the audio properties and the 5.1 works, I can heard the audio from all 5 speakers on the tests.
I can also hear it if i load up COD4 , surround sound seems to enable.

However, whenever I try play music it defaults to stereo through the front left/right speakers.
This is also the same for general windows sounds/functions...they only play through 2 speakers as opposed to the 5.1

I have checked the properties within the media players themselves and it seems ok. I've tried WMP/Winamp/iTunes/VLC/Creative yet no luck with any.

Can anyone reccomend any troubleshooting, or maybe where to check for info ?

I'm running on Windows7 x64 , though i know of no conflict as it is currently working.

Eh, music is stereo, ie 2 channel, unless its 5.1 it'll not play in 5.1.
In the Creative console in Entertainment mode You can enable CMSS-3D which will give You a choice of Stereo Expand or Surround

Edit, You probably haven't got the console launcher installed, just download and install the Vista64 one, it works fine for me

Àhh I do Póg, and I have the CMSS-3D enabled too, but no luck.

I understand that music is stereo, and thats fine by me, I'd just like the sound to be coming from all speakers is all...if only to deafen me them few years quicker.

I've jumped onto my other partition which is Windows XP, so gonna try it there and see how i get on.

You sure the slider isn't set to front?
