    Did you supply,

Membership of target shooting club and/or hunting license/pemission to shoot ?

    Certificate of compatency ?

    medical details ?

    2 character references ?

Expanation as to why .223 is best suited for what you want ?

If not, your application was filed until 01/08/09, and you now need to supply all of the above and then some.

    Do not hold your breath.

If you can do the job, do it. If you can't do the job, just teach it. If you really suck at it, just become a union executive or politician.

your chances are good as long as you havent come under the notice of the garda and have proven your bona fides for the rifle, its the same for the rest of us-most of us suffered the wait like yourself...stiff upper lip man!:D-youll come through just like the rest;)

if you have proven a good reason and havent come under garda notice youll be grand, the waiting is a bitch but things are getting better as far as turnaround time is concerned, i waited a year for a shotgun licence way back in the 70 s...have faith:D

This sort of happened to me. I applied for a license on 1st April and was kept waiting until now.

But I have to now apply with the new type of license form. This is only a formality as all the paper work was done and signed off on the old form, but the new system will not start until the 13 Septenber so nothing can be completed until that date.

Yep , clive is right moloney you have just applied at a bad time, so your gonna have to grin and bear it, ive just applied for a 308 licence myself but wont expect much to happen till after the new system gets going, the only thing is ill be able to use my 243 on deer and 223 for foxing whilst im waiting:D-best advice I could give you now is to download a copy of new application and fill it in and get some passport photographs , names of referees etc and furnish the garda with that, it will help speed up the process when things get going;)

your going to have to supply whats needed on the new form that wasnt needed before eg; passport photos , family doctor , referees , youll also have to fill in proof of competency- get one of the new application forms and go through it to see what you havent already supplied.
