I am thinking about getting eye laser surgery, has anyone had surgery done in clinic in Kildare - any other information or advice would be appreciated.

I think I would need that also to keep an eue on the prices builders are charging these days. :D

Sorry, but you have posted in the wrong forum but I'll move it to a more appropriate place.

I have had my eyes done in Optical Express in Dublin 4, but the same surgeons do the procedures in Optical Express in Newbridge. It was quicker than a trip to the dentist. You go back for a checkup the following day, and the following week. I am going back for my 1-month checkup tomorrow.

Speaking for myself, I am happy with the results. I didn't experience any side-effects, apart from some tiredness in the eyes when using the computer. They told me that the eye muscles take a while to get used to focusing without spectacles. Vision is excellent, though.

Its 30% off their standard prices if you have Aviva Health, and (I think) 15% off with VHI. Don't know about other health providers. You can also claim back tax on the balance in January by submitting a Med 1 form.

One thing that struck me the next day was that it felt a bit anti-climactic. I was thinking "OK, so now I have perfect vision, but so what." I was probably expecting too much. I tried to compensate by spending €130 on a pair of sunglasses.
However I don't have any regrets. And strangely I don't have a clue where my old glasses are - I haven't seen them since the day of the procedure, even though I tidied my whole apartment the other day from top to bottom.
