Photo ID on job interview

    Hi there,

I was just wondering - I have a job interview in a few days and they requested to bring two forms of photo IDs. I'm guessing it's to prove I'm not illegal immigrant or something, but they're also saying that they will make copies of that! and that it is a legal requirement imposed by the state.

Question is - is it legal to make copies of your IDs on initial job interview ?
Shouldn't it be rather on offer of employment ?

    Greg

    Is this a hypothetical?!

In any event I don't see a problem, it's an offence to destroy or alter but not to copy. It's odd that they'd want it but not unlawful. Unless they're going to take your age/sex/race etc into consideration

There are Data Proctection issues here. If you don't get the job I would be concerned that they have copies of these documents.

It does sounds like they want to be sued for discrimination. They must have a very bad hr department.
