I have suffered from a phobia of going red for years. I'm 23 and I have to wear make-up everyday.... if I don't I will automatically go red. For those who don't experience it it's so hard to explain, it's like going red at the worst time, like i think "it would be so embarrassing to go red now" and I do. Sometimes people think I fancy them cos of it. It is ruining my life, i have to think about every situation I'm going to be and pre-plan when to put my make-up on. I just think if I didn't have this problem I would be such a different person. Please don't say it's only going red and not to worry about it, think about when you see someone getting embarrassed, you think "why are they going red". I have had counselling but it didn't work..now am looking into hypnotherapy. Does anyone else have this problem and have any suggestions on what to do?
By the way no-one has any idea I suffer from this, I am really good at hiding it...leaving the room/avoiding certain situations/re-appplying make-up etc.

    HI OP.

I have known a leading hypnotherapist for many years and this can be very successful with a lot of behavioral issues, especially good NLP practitioners.

It must be worth trying at least ...I mean if it doesn't work you are just out a few quid.

    Good luck.
If you are in Dublin, I can recommend a good practice by PM.

I used to have a really bad blushing problem & I can sympathise totally with you. The more you think about it, the worse it gets and you end up avoiding doing things because you know you are just going to blush. All I can say is that it does get better with age (well it did for me anyway!) I hardly ever blush now and maybe it's because I'm less self conscious and more confident than I was in my twenties.

hypnotherapy is absolutely useless for something like this.......they'll happily take your money though and leave you more frustrated than you are now. save your money and get an expert opinion!

On what basis is it useless ? who is an expert in this kind of thing ? Don't say it's a GP ... ?
