    Hey guys,

I've decided its time to get an iPhone, either 3g or 3gs. I'm on the meteor network so i wont be changing network at all so i'll either be buying one officially unlocked or one that is jail broken. I've relations in Australia and i'm contemplating asking them to get one and post it over if i send them the money over. Do you guys think that this is a good idea or do you's think i'd be better off buying one on ebay or something like that. Advice is greatly appreciated

Well if it comes from Australia, it will be official unlocked and can never be locked.

Buying one and jailbreaking it yourself always leaves a possibility of it being locked again.

Then again, you might be able to get a bargain off eBay for an official locked one.

Check eBay and call your relations while doing it ;)

Just be wary of having them post it over.

You stand a very good chance of having the phone stopped by Customs on this end (since it's from outside the EU), thereby possibly negating the cost savings.

And before somebody says to mark it as a gift, ask yourself just how silly you think the Customs people are.
