(i think to do a vocational training course you have to be unemployed...which im not) I didnt study Irish in school as i moved from England, i need a pass in Junior Cert Irish 2 be a Special Needs Assistant. Any advice appreciated.

I know it's no problem for the Leaving, not so sure about the Junior. I know for the leaving there's a flat fee (€86 i think) no matter how many subjects you take.

For either, the trick is finding somewhere to sit it rather than getting permission though :P

Here's the details for registering as an external candidate with the State Exams Commission. It doesn't say specifically Leaving Cert it just says External Candidate so I'd say these are the people to contact, normally when you register you have to find a school to sit the exam in, the easiest thing would be to call to your local secondary school in September and have a chat with the principal. Registering as an external candidate won't happen for another while yet but it has to be done by February I think
